Located 20 miles from Aspen, Basalt has become Aspen's little sister. For a small community Basalt has a lot to offer, great restaurants, shopping, live music, cultural offerings, Sunday Farmer's market, hiking, biking, golf and the gold medal Frying Pan & Roaring Fork River rivers offer unbelievable Fly fishing and White water recreation.

Walk the streets of the historic Midland Avenue of Basalt and you will feel yourself step back in time, many of the store fronts and buildings have kept their original charm giving "old town" a lot of character. Here you will find some tried and true restaurants, art galleries and great boutique shopping as well as easy river access. Check out the Swinging bridge when you are exploring. Just down the road you will find the more urban environment of Willits with lofts, Whole Foods Grocery, great restaurants and shopping. Willits is a mixture of townhomes, flats, family homes surrounded by green space walking paths and easy access to every day conveniences.
Found between Willits and Carbondale, El Jebel is an unincorporated community with some great lower priced single family homes and some newer townhome construction. It has a variety of businesses, a movie theater, restaurants and an amazing green space called Crown Mountain Park which offers walking paths, biking track, a playground, river access and green grass galore.
Settled in the 1800's for agriculture and ranching the area has slowly been developed and has evolved into desirable area. Many of the homes are on large acreage and have stunning views of the surrounding mountain range with some of the most spectacular views of Mt. Sopris. Many homes have horse facilities or access to shared equestrian facilities. Access to many hiking, biking and horse riding trails are nearby.
The Frying Pan River attracts people from around the globe to it's gold medal waters. This is a very scenic area with red rock canyon walls, large evergreen forests and Reudi Resorvior. Many homes have river access, privacy and/or large parcels of land. With access to a the river, hiking and boating but just a short drive into Basalt many are fond of this area.
